46th Brass and Percussion Meeting and Competition

The 46th Brass and Percussion Meeting and Competition will be organised by the Brass and Percussion Department of the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen and the Conservatory Foundation between 12th and 14th April, 2025

Young trumpet, French-horn, trombone, tuba and percussion players are welcome to apply from any country. After a preliminary audition, candidates compete in two rounds. Elligible for entry:

  • 12th and 13th grade students of high schools specialising in music
  • full- or part-time students of BA university training, without an age-limit
  • students of the 5-year Teachers’ Training program, without an age limit
  • full- or part-time students of Master’s teachers’ training, without an age-limit

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

Applications can be submitted in two categories: (application to a higher category is allowed)

  • 1st category: 12th and 13th grade students of high schools specialising in music, 1st year students of BA or 5-year Teachers’ Training Programs
  • 2nd category: BA 2nd and 3rd year students, 2nd-4th year students of 5-year Teachers’s Training program, students of Master’s teachers’ training

All rounds are open to the public.

The order of performances is in alphabetical order, set by a preliminary draw and will be in effect throughout the competition.

First round of the competition is a local audition at the institutions.

During the national second and third rounds, the panel of jury will select the number of candidates who make it to the next round. The jury will evaluate the candidates with points from 1-20.
The jury will issue first, second, third and special prizes. Prizes may be split in case of equal points or a very slight difference between points.

The decision of the jury is final, no further appeal is possible,

Winners of a category will perform at a gala concert before the award ceremony. In case of a split prize the jury will decide on the performer. 

The registration fee covers the costs of professional programs and concerts, but accommodation and meals are not included.

The application form is valid with the following documents, which are to be color scanned and submitted via e-mail to rezesverseny@gmail.com:

  • certificate of school attendance
  • a document to certify the payment of registration fee (Via bank transfer, please indicate the name and address of applicant)
  • For applicants under the age of 18, an additional condition for accepting the application is the consent statement of the parent/legal guardian, which will be sent electronically to the email address provided on the application form after the application.

PRIVACY POLICY

Registration fee : 50 EUR

The registration fee is non-refundable. 

Candidates may bring their own piano accompanist, but all costs for the accompanist must be covered by themselves. Candidates may also ask for an accompanist by indicating it on the application form (20 EUR/round, which shall be paid in cash at the registration).
